We had a wonderful BBQ at church yesterday. We had planned a baptism and BBQ at the river but due to the rain we had to postpone it. Thankfully we were able to continue with the BBQ at the church building. That morning I was able to preach about participation in communion with Christ and one another. Bread and wine are formed through crushing and fermented rising. We become one bread with one another in communion but that also entails sticking together through our trials. When we started the BBQ after service the rain came down but the fellowship continued. Sean did a great job avoiding splashes of rain and cooking the meat on the grill. Yoshimi-san saved the rice which I had made miss-measuring the amount of water. Many old faces turned up during and after the BBQ. Meals really do bring people together.
