In June a lady who recently started coming to our church pulled me aside after service. She told me of her friend who was holding a kid’s event in the city and she wanted me to help him. An English teacher was going to provide an English play-time in the morning of the event but had to cancel. So she encouraged me to help her friend Yoshino. I agreed to meet her friend that week and see if we could help as a church. The meeting went well and I agreed to help. We would be able to take care of the English play time and also play music in the afternoon as a church band.
Honestly I had no idea how to plan this but I believed this was something we could do as a church to bless the city. The event was scheduled Saturday August 12th. Over the next month my wife and people from the evening service helped to plan what we would do for the kids and for the music. When the day of the event came we were nervous but ready to have fun with the kids. We danced and played Christian songs, play games and read a simple Christian story introducing the concept of God as our creator in English and Japanese. The time was over before we knew it.
In the afternoon we played as a three person church band more Christian songs in English and Japanese and introduced the church to the people gathered. This event came out of nowhere but we were all grateful to be able to serve the city in this way as a church. The event organiser was also grateful and wanted us to come back again next year and let more people know about the church.
What a great opportunity and thank you for serving the Lord so faithfully. May the Lord continue to bless you and make your ministry fruitful for His glory!
Praise the Lord!!
